Four compelling reasons to start using BDI:

  • You gain access to the right logistics information earlier, without human intervention.
  • As the data owner, you control who can use your data and for what purpose.
  • You act faster, plan more precisely, and make optimal use of (scarce) resources.
  • You use a single standardized connection instead of numerous costly one-to-one data links.

BDI for developers

As a developer, you should be able to implement the BDI framework with ease. That is why our Developer-portal offers comprehensive documentation and tools to help you get started.

The BDI agreement framework is a set of joint agreements on how organizations share data with each other in a secure, reliable, and efficient manner. It ensures that all involved parties follow the smae principles and rules, such as "data stays at the source" and "Coherent security", to enable smooth and safe data exchange. You can compare it tot traffic on the road: we have traffic rules. When everyone follows those rules, the traffic flows smoothly without accidents.

The BDI agreement framework is based on seven core principles. Below, we briefly explain each of them individually.

7 core principles of the BDI

  • Connecting physical and digital processes
The BDI is used for the "live" exchange of data regarding daily processes.

  • Event-driven architecture
If anything changes relating to a transport route or stock, or if an order is added, a message is sent out immediately.

  • Zero trust
To improve mutual trust, each party registers with local subnetworks (BDI associations).

  • Dynamic data
Sharing data that is time-sensitive and can be created ad hoc, so it must always be up to date.

  • Data at the source
The data owner decides who has access to each piece of data and which conditions apply.

  • Local decision-making
Subnetworks have room for local habits, agreements and legislation.
  • Coherent security
The security of various components and protocols is properly matched.
