Participants enthusiastic about training BDI Fundamentals
Published on May 14, 2025In 2025, we are organizing the 'BDI Fundamentals' training three times. The first session took place on Tuesday afternoon, May 13. IT professionals—most of them working for government organizations such as the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) and the National Road Traffic Data Portal (NDW)—delved into federated data sharing in logistics based on the BDI agreements framework.
During the training, BDI lead architect Ewout Bouwman highlighted, among other things, the 'event-driven' nature of BDI. This meansthat authorized parties within the supply chain share real-time data with each other about various (physical)events in the logistics process - for example, the arrival of a container at the Port of Rotterdam.
Joost Diepenmaat - BDI software engineer - demonstrated the ‘Vertrouwde Goederenafgifte’ application, where paper documents and phone calls are replaced by the exchange of reliable digital data. This allows for immediate verification of whether the correct shipper, carrier, and driver are involved.
Participant feedback was uinanimously positive: 'A relevant training to keep up with BDI developments', 'A great translation of theory into practice', and 'Educational and inspiring!' Everyone went home with the certificate of participation 'BDI Fundamentals – Federated data sharing in logistics for IT professionals.'
