Uniform CO₂ emission dataset: an essential step for BDI at ICT & Logistics
Geplaatst op 30 oktober 2025The ICT & Logistiek trade show will feature the presentation of the “Uniform CO₂e Data Core Dataset”. This initiative is a crucial development that lays the foundation for reliable and automated CO₂ reporting for road transport.
This new document describes the data points required to calculate the CO₂ emissions from road transport unequivocally according to the ISO 14083:2023 standard. It enables vendor-independent automation within IT systems.
The initiative is of direct importance to the Basis Data Infrastructuur (BDI), as the core dataset provides an essential building block for the safe and efficient sharing of standardised CO₂e data within logistics chains.
Why standardisation is now crucial
The demand for transparent and reliable CO₂ reports is rapidly increasing, coming from companies as well as governments and financial institutions. However, many logistics companies struggle to translate the international ISO 14083 standard into their daily processes and IT systems.
The new core dataset is the result of a broad collaboration, involving BDI and key players such as TLN and various CO₂ calculation platforms. The collaboration has resulted in:
- Standard CO₂ emission datasets: Definition of required data points.
- CO₂e profile in the Open Trip Model (OTM): Enables implementation in IT systems (such as TMS, FMS).
This standardisation ensures that all parties work from the same definitions, which promotes interoperability, auditability, and a reduction in administrative burden.
Three reasons to visit ICT & Logistics
The presentation of the uniform core dataset is a compelling reason to visit the ICT & Logistiek exhibition if you want to know more about the application of BDI.
Furthermore, BDI is contributing to two other important sessions that will provide more insight into the added value of standardised data sharing:
- Logistics as a lifeline for the armed forces: On civil-military logistics cooperation to enhance the resilience and security of the Netherlands and NATO.
- Applying Basic Data Infrastructure: Practical use cases of BDI, including examples from Schiphol and Portbase.
Do not miss these essential developments. Register for the presentation of the uniform core dataset.
